Under general direction, position is responsible for performing a variety of engineering and QC functions including build/installation of new products/processes, start-up of a variety of manufacturing equipment/tooling/processes, and cost/productivity improvements. In performing these functions, the manufacturing engineer will work in conjunction with several other disciplines to ensure a robust review and consideration for impact on other areas affected. Reviews engineering drawings and supporting operations documentation to verify adherence to ISO standards and manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • PROGRAM LEADER
  • Manage programs from concept initiation to implementation.
  • Plan, coordinate, and communicate between areas of responsibility as required. This shall include work tasks, task status, and responsibility.
  • Responsible for meeting specifications of the project such as cost objectives, timing, and capital expenditures.
  • Responsible for preparing Milestone documents and obtaining approvals for team.
  • Equipment/Tooling/Product Design and Development
  • Provides support to equipment/tooling engineers and designers to meet desired specifications to manufacture new products, cost improvements, channel initiatives, and other corporate objectives.
  • Use various 6-sigma tools and techniques to drive productivity improvements in operations and with outside vendor/suppliers as applicable.
  • Provide design and development support to other engineers and designers
  • Work in conjunction with product, process, tooling/equipment/controls and division engineers to develop and execute an achievable manufacturing build plan.
  • Develop qualification plans to ensure equipment/tooling design meets all government and internal safety and quality standards.
  • Prepare necessary proposals and updates on projects to inform other members of the organization.
  • QUALITY CONTROL
  • Responsible for implementation and communication of all new and changes to existing quality control plans and inspection criteria.
  • OTHER DUTIES
  • Review and provide changes to equipment/tooling designs and work-in-process.
  • Review and provide changes to artwork for labels and instruction sheets
  • Reviews engineering drawings and supporting technical documentation such as, maintenance manuals, spare parts lists, and process sheets.
  • Understands and follow Quality Management System.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Required: 5+ years of designing product/equipment/tooling utilizing various design and engineering skills and tools. Proven ability to develop product and manufacturing solutions, meeting goals and objectives, set forth for the program.
  • Required: 4 year engineering college degree, preferred BSME
  • Desired: 2+ years of experience in manufacturing with strong background in aluminum/fiberglass/wood materials preferred. Experience with various 6-sigma tools and techniques.
