Knaack, a division of Werner Co., is seeking a Manufacturing Safety Engineer to assist the Manufacturing Engineers and Ergonomics Group by supporting lean manufacturing and flow lines concept and ergonomics improvements for the plant. Assist in technology implementation from writing AR’s, justification, to project management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the capital plan for the department. Direct and implement robotics and other automation projects
  • Assist in cost reduction implementation for the department and help manage projects as needed
  • Participate in communicative Supervisors Training. Develop actions plans for improvement and follow through with involvement from the Director of Engineering and Services
  • Assist in reduction of safety incident rate in the facility. Assist with improvements to the safety program for the facility
  • Assist in gathering information for environmental improvements or reporting
  • Assist in ensuring that all environmental requirements are adhered to and maintained for compliance
  • Assist plant management as needed to ensure that guidelines are maintained
  • Be familiar with and support time studies, routings of processes and assist in the capacity planning of equipment
  • Actively participate with the team in problem solving to drive results and improvements
  • Assist Maintenance with projects and help guide for successful implementation and execution
Education and Experience:
  • Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering preferred
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in manufacturing/industrial engineering or related field

  • This role will report to the Technical Services Manager
  • Travel expected up to 25%
