The Product Manager must interact with all functional groups in a collaborative manner and assist in bridging the gap between the commercial and operating groups. The role requires a unique blend of analytical and creative abilities. The Senior Product Manager is the product segment leader and is responsible for total life cycle management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assists in the identification, manages the development, and helps coordinate the launch of new products. Will develop detailed project scopes for individual projects, action plans for implementation, and communication with other departments to ensure timely completion. May either lead or be a member of any project team for the product category.
  • Manages the marketing variables (product, pricing, promotion, and distribution) for each existing product to cost effectively achieve objectives. Will monitor each product’s life cycle in regard to sales potential and profitability. May be required to reformulate the elements of the marketing strategy as required.
  • Assess consumer and market trends, and competitors’ activities in relation to company products. Will develop and maintain knowledge of product competitors and markets. May recommend and assist in marketing questionnaires, focus groups, etc.
  • Maintains expert knowledge of entire product. Responsible for maintaining synergy between these and other products/ product categories.
  • Supports sales and marketing efforts of sales force, commercial marketing group, and distributors. Will be required to correspond daily with managers, distributors, and customers. May coordinate functional area activities as requested by sales or marketing and recommend training materials to be used by field sales.
  • Will support the preparation of annual and long range marketing plans and programs which include projected marketing strategy, advertising plan, marketing penetration, and promotional efforts.
  • Assists in preparing sales forecasts, projected market penetration, recommended sales policies, and budget estimates.
  • Other Duties that are reasonably associated with the above essential functions of the job.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Undergraduate business degree, marketing concentration (MBA preferred)
  • OR Undergraduate engineering degree with MBA, emphasis in marketing.
  • Three to five years management experience marketing a product line of consumer durables through multiple sales channels. Ideally in a company noted for executive development, market expertise, and working with major home improvement consumer product sales channels.
  • A solid track record with proven results in new product development and product line management. Ideally some meaningful exposure to consumers, competitors, and markets.
